Premier League Team of the Week Matchday 14

It was a varied Team of the Week during matchday 13. This weekend, however, the XI is dominated by players from two teams. 

Newcastle United and Burnley each have three players in the team. Here’s your matchday 14 FotMob Team of the Week.

Goalkeeper: James Trafford 

The 21-year-old shot-stopper made three saves for Burnley during their 5-0 win over Sheffield United at Turf Moor. 

The former Manchester City youngster also found a teammate with 40 of of his 48 passes and was accurate with almost half of his long balls. He wasn’t overly busy but he did everything he needed to do.

Right-Back: Keiran Trippier

Trippier is a regular in the FotMob Team of the Week. He’s been incredible for Newcastle this season and created the match-winning goal for the Magpies against Manchester United on Saturday evening. 

The England international crested six chances and one big chance at St James’ Park to earn himself a 9.1 rating. He was also fairly dominant defensively too, winning 100% of his tackles and 50% of his ground duels.

Centre-Back: Dara O’Shea 

The Republic of Ireland international completed the most passes (60) of any player in the match. The Burnley centre-back was instrumental in the 5-0 victory on Saturday afternoon. 

He completed 81% of his passes and won the most duels (nine). The 24-year-old was dominant in the air, winning 88% of his aerial battles. 

O’Shea also claimed an assist on his way to an 8.2 rating. 

Centre-Back: Ben Mee 

Mee rolled back the years in Brentford’s 3-1 win over Luton. The 34-year-old claimed a FotMob rating of 8.5 after scoring in the victory for the Bees. He also created two chances, had three shots and completed 86% of the 91 passes he attempted. 

The Brentford centre-back made 10 ball recoveries and won four duels on the day. 

Left-Back: Antonee Robinson

Fulham conceded four goals but Robinson still managed to impress. The 26-year-old had two shots, claimed an assist and made the most tackles (three) of any player in the match. 

Robinson also made 13 clearances, 13 interceptions and was dribbled past just once. He won 70% of his ground duels and 100% of his aerial duels. He really didn’t deserve to lose at Anfield on Sunday. 

Midfield: Martin Ødegaard

The Arsenal skipper ran the show in the 2-1 win over Wolves. 

Ødegaard scored the second for the Gunners and it turned out to be the winner. He caught the eye creatively, carving out six opportunities for teammates, three of which were classed as big chances. In truth, it was a creative clinic, while also completing the most passes of any player (78).

He finished with an Expected Assists total of 0.78 and a FotMob rating of 8.6. 

Midfield: Enzo Fernández

Fernández was the match-winner for Chelsea against Brighton. He scored twice – the first being a header from close range and the second via the penalty spot. The World Cup winner put in a shift following the red card to Conor Gallagher too, winning 60% of his duels at Stamford Bridge. 

He completed 70% of his passes and 50% of his dribbles to keep things moving for the Blues. 

Midfield: Joelinton 

The Brazilian was dominant in the middle third for the Magpies against the Red Devils. The former striker completed 86% of his passes, created three chances, completed two of his three dribbles, won all of his tackles and was successful in 15 of his 20 duels – the most of any player. 

Joelinton was also fouled on five occasions, again, the most of any player. He recovered the ball on 10 occasions to cap off an all-round showing. 

Forward: Bukayo Saka

Saka is finding his form. The Arsenal No. 7 scored the opener for the league leaders against Wolves, his fifth of the Premier League season. 

He created four chances, attempted seven dribbles and had three shots in what was a dominant attacking showing. The 22-year-old also won the most duels (eight) of any player. 

Forward: Zeki Amdouni 

Amdouni put in a complete performance for Burnley, scoring and assisting in the 5-0 triumph at Turf Moor. 

The 22-year-old had two shots and created two chances in a showing that earned him a FotMob rating of 8.7. 

Sheffield United struggled to deal with the powerful forward. He won over half of his duels and was fouled on three occasions, the most of anyone on the pitch. 

Forward: Anthony Gordon 

Another match-winning goal for Gordon. It is becoming a bit of a habit for the former Everton winger. It is also another big game in which the Newcastle No10 has scored in. He’s now found the back of the net against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. 

Gordon also carved out two chances for teammates and finished with an Expected Goal involvement of 0.87. He’s now on six goals and three assists for the season.
