Live xG data is now in FotMob

Our latest release brings you live Expected Goals data

Our latest app update incorporates live xG data as a part of our redesign of match pages. If you’re unfamiliar with the stat, Expected Goals (xG for short) is the likelihood that a shot will result in a goal. In other words, it is a measurement of how good the chance was.

Simon Rolfes, Bayern Leverkusen’s Sporting Director described the value of xG on Bundesliga.com, “We always look at our xG as it provides good feedback on how our attacking play is developing. Basically, it’s good for us to have a high xG in comparison to our opponents, because it means we’ve taken a lot of chances. For fans, xG is a good reflection of how a game is going, something other stats such as possession, shots on goal, and duels won perhaps don’t always do quite so well.”

In our new update, you’ll see xG incorporated in matches in the new mini-stat section in the Facts tab, as well as deeper xG data in the Stats tab. Plus, you can see the xG and xA (expected assists) of individual players by tapping on them in the Lineup tab.

Furthermore, you’ll find xG numbers on Team pages as well as Player pages. The data is available for 23 different competitions.

Below, we’ve collected various screens where you can find the data today, with more to come in future updates. We’re excited to hear what you think, please let us know by sending us a tweet or emailing us at support@fotmob.com.
