FotMob teams up with Girls United to support the growth of women’s football

New partnership announced

Girls United Football Association and FotMob have signed a sponsorship deal to support the growth of women’s football. The new partnership will put non-profit organisation Girls United in a position to create more opportunities for girls to play football at their grassroots clubs and grow the visibility of FotMob’s industry leading coverage of the Women’s Super League in the UK.

FotMob’s livescore app includes player ratings, deep stats for matches, teams, and players, as well as live text commentary for the WSL. The company’s investment into covering the women’s game is currently unmatched by other popular livescore apps. “We are very excited to work with FotMob,” said Romina Calatayud, Founder & CEO of Girls United. “Together we are on a mission to raise the standard of provision that is given to girls’ and women’s football. It is a really exciting development for Girls United to partner with a company that is giving the women’s game the exposure that it deserves.”

“We are excited to support the direct impact Girls United’s work has on girls around the globe,” said Curt Baker, Product Strategy Lead at FotMob. “We are strong believers in football as a force for positive change, and Girls United’s work in empowering girls and promoting gender equality — on and off the pitch — is a powerful example of that.”

Both FotMob and Girls United seek to bridge the gap between the opportunities that are given to the men’s game and the women’s game. The sponsorship deal was commended by Caroline Weir, Manchester City forward and Girls United Ambassador, who added: “Equal opportunity in girls’ grassroots football is so important and it is going to take a lot of support from the community to make it happen. Being an ambassador for Girls United, it’s been great to see FotMob become their kit sponsors and contribute to the organisation’s ability to support more girls to play football.”
